Boston announced today that it's putting an end to the same old boring tunes that play when city hall puts you on hold. Instead, the city's Department of Innovation and Technology will be crowdsourcing original music from local talent for a new "transfer music playlist."

Musicians looking for city hall fame can tweet their tracks to @DoITBoston using the hashtag #BOStunes or send them in a Facebook message before December 2nd. To keep the playlist "uniquely Bostonian," at least one member of the band must live in the city.
