A New Strategy in NYC's War on Rats
Mayor de Blasio announces a $3 million assault on the city's ever-present vermin.
Rats abound in NYC. They feast on piles of curbside garbage, scuttle over your feet at dusk, and cause complete mayhem when they find their way onto subway cars. They weave elaborate, well-trodden paths above and below ground. Rat-spotting is a quintessentially New York pastime.
Thursday, however, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio will announce a $3 million expansion of a rat-extermination pilot program that rolled out last year.
