Diners at the Tetchan yakitori bar in the Tokyo suburb of Kichijoji will chow down on their skewers amidst thousands of computer cables thanks to architect Kengo Kuma, who recently redesigned the restaurant's interior.

The notion of turning trash into design elements is old news. But unlike some funky art installations, this project is intended to be permanent, meaning that it's got to remain resonant and tolerable once the novelty wears off.
