The MTA just released new pictures, and they are quite post-apocalyptic.

After years of delay, construction on the 2nd Avenue subway has finally gotten under way. The MTA just released some new photos, but don't get too excited - the first phase of the project is scheduled to finish up some time in 2016.

Here are a couple more shots, thanks to Gothamist for bringing these to our attention.
